LDS Film Festival 2014

September 12, 2013

The 13th LDS Film Festival is now scheduled to take place February 5-8, 2014 at the Scera Center in Orem, Utah. Among the news with this announcement comes a call for entries, the inclusion of a new category, and a new submission process.

New for 2014 is a new category for Family Films, inviting families to submit "homemade" movies with a length of 5 minutes or less, encouraging families to collaborate on a short film together. All finalists will be screened as part of the LDS Film Festival on Saturday afternoon, February 8, 2014.
Cash awards totalling $600.00 and certificates for Honorable Mention and Audience Choice will be awarded. For more information on this new category check out the entry guidelines.

Call for entries is now open for all LDS and Utah filmmakers. The festival offers over $2,500.00 in awards and a perfect venue to premiere to a large and appreciative audience.
The regular entry deadline for all submissions is Monday, November 18, 2013. The extended deadlineis Monday, December 9, 2013. Categories for the festival include a Feature Film Exhibition, Short Film Competition, Special Screenings, and a 24 Hour Filmmaking Marathon in addition to the new Family Film Competition.
The motto of the festival is: "The glory of God is intelligence, or, in other words, light and truth." The festival is looking for intelligent stories and films that deal with spirituality in a universal way. The stories may deal with Gospel issues although films do not have to be LDS or gospel themed as they are looking for honest stories that are personal, real and true.

Also new for 2014 is a paperless submission process with all films to be received online. All filmmakers need to submit an online entry form, provide a YouTube or Vimeo Preview link to their film, and pay the entry fee via PayPal. For more information and to submit your film visit the Official Site.
